i made it through my first party SOBER!!!
Hey everyone!
SO, last night was interesting, to say the least. I got a call around midnight from my roommate (who is 21) and she was clearly wasted. I kicked into "got to get her home" mode, and went over to the apartment where she was and everyone was drunk (someone was turning 21 there) and I made it through 2 hours of having to deal with drunk people!
I was in a great spiritual place, and I called a lot of people in the program before I went, AND my mom and I ended up feeling great - plus I was the only one there whose makeup was not smudged, and who wasn't falling over everyone!
I'm very proud! I definitely wouldn't go to a party unless I had clear motives and I was spiritually fit though.
Any other similar experiences?:ghug

Good for you.. that stuff is hard.
I don't put myself in drinking situations unless I *HAVE* to, sounds like you had a great plan (mentally), and were able to get your roomie home safe. KUDOS to you.
I never want to 'test' myself with this stuff, but the reality is, a lot of people drink, and we will have to be around it sometimes. Good job.. doesn't it feel great to come out alive and well?
Proud of you!

Congrats on taking care of your friend and staying sober as well...... Kind of interesting isn't it? I have found that if I am drinking I am pretty much useless, but sober I am useful!!! Even to a drunk friend! LOL

Good job! That's my hardest challenge now that I don't drink. It has seriously cut into my social life on the weekends. I now find myself making excuses why I am not going out with my friends at night. Going to parties and bars are hard for me. I get really bored quick when I do go, and there is too much temptation when everyone is drinking. Congratulations on your accomplishment.
