Where to turn?

Hello everybody, I am new to this site and need to figure out a plan for myself.

I have gone from a straight-A student to a sketchy character in a matter of a couple years. I just cannot get away from the pull of alcohol.

Last year, I entered a DETOX + outpatient program after a week-long binge. I felt worse than I ever had before, not in a hangover manner but in a way that truly felt as though my body was not going to make it through. Almost ten hours after my last drink I was in Intake at a BAC of .377, confirmed twice with two different devices. I filled out my insurance info, kept civil with the employes, and they did not understand how I could blow so high and still be able to function. I remember it all despite the BAC, and it was scary.

I am just twenty years old and am so scared come the end of September, the big 21.

I need the support of people who are sober in order to make things work for me. AA is not what i am looking for; I have been many times and realize it is not for me. AA has saved friends of mine from death, yet I reiterate that the program does not "hit the spot".

Please, anyone that can shed some insight into my situation please chime in. I know my problems aren't as bad as others, but I will not make it without some help.

Thanks,
Tron9K

Welcome to SR. If you have a drinking problem, which you believe you do, you have found a GREAT place.

In a "sticky" at the top of the Alcoholism forum is this:

http://www.soberrecovery.com/forums/...-programs.html

Many different 'programs' to find one that can help you in recovery.

Please keep posting and let us know how you are doing, we do care very much!

When I got sober, AA was "the only game in town" and since I had already died and I did want to live, I went.

However, I do believe you might find some alternatives on that thread.

Again, WELCOME.

Love and hugs,

You've come to a good place here. Remember to breathe and hang in there-- one moment at a time.
