Guys!

Have any of you guys who drink excessively suffered from erectile dysfunction problems? I have!!! Been drinking copious amounts of cider everyday from morning to night for 3 years, not been able to work as I suffer from OCD and find it hard to live without alcohol, but I've had this problem for a while. I'm 28 by the way.

Doesn't sound too good! maybe it is the amount you are drinking? Have you been to the doctors?

Fortunately I have not had that problem, but I found that the drinking killed my libido, so it didn't really matter anyways.

Yeah, been to the doc and he said it was a common problem for alcoholics/heavy drinkers; but people that I know who drink a lot don't get it, just me, which is why I asked you guys.

I do drink insane amounts though, my front two teeth are almost brown from heavy, really heavy drinking.

I've tried yes. The longest I've gone without alcohol in the past 3 years is 5 days. I'm seriously thinking of giving up for good though as I can feel pains around the liver and kidneys, but my doc won't prescribe me any meds for withdrawal, he says they're more addictive than alcohol.

Have you gone down to AA or tried alcohol counselling? It would be good to get some support! This is a great place for support too!

First of all welcome to SR.
I really would have to suggest you quit drinking or at least try REAL HARD to quit.
I would think that if you are feeling pains around your liver and kidneys, you should quit drinking for sure or you soon may not ever worry about your erectile dysfunction problem.
You will have much bigger problems to deal with.

Medical detox is available. Be honest with your MD.
It sounds like erectile dysfunction is just the tip of the ice-burg.

You don't have to live this way. Sounds like you are ready to explore recovery. Good Luck.

You need a new doc, ASAP. Alcohol withdrawal can be FATAL, in fact it is 7 times more deadly than opiate withdrawal.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I'm definitely giving up, getting really scared of liver damage. A lot of GP's here in England won't prescribe benzo's for alcohol withdrawal, instead they refer you into a detox hospital for two weeks which I don't really want to do but I don't have much of a choice! Some nights I get auditory hallucinations, and some visual while trying to drift off to sleep after I've had a drink. This can't be normal?

I'm a secret drinker btw, my family think I quit ages ago.

Bad teeth, liver pain, erectile dysfunction?

What's it gonna take?

A lot of people quit drinking w/ out medication, under medical supervision.

I'm not a "guy".. just putting in my .02 cents.

The bad teeth are from smoking cigs and weed not just alcohol. And I'm not risking quiting alcohol without meds.

Bh28, I've had the auditory hallucinations while going through withdrawal, even heard the TV when it wasn't even on. Strange and scary isn't it.

I've not had erectile disfunction but I've had delayed ejaculation.

I also have no libido now and hoping that will return after a while being sober.
