"Happy New Year!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Well, "CC" chickens don't usually fly! lol I'm sober and loving every minute of it. Although I'm still dealing with the AH who says "he won't quit until something bad happens." Other than notifying the police of his habitual drunk driving, our family doctor (who's going to chat with him) and speaking with my counsellor, there's nothing I can do. I'm at the "love with detachment stage." My hands are tied. I know how that feels, it happened to me when I was active in my "drinking career". Other than than that I'm grrreat. My kids are grrrreat. Happy New Year to you too

When I expressed the need to quit smoking, DH asked for a few days to get himself psyched up for the same process. That was January 2003 and neither one of us has sucked a butt since then. I'm surprised we didn't kill each other, quitting together, but we survived and are the better for it.
When he needed to quit drinking, I said I would too. Again, as a team, it has worked well. He still makes the occasional comment about thinking that he only needed to quit for a while, but I don't give him the opportunity to pursue that train of thought further.
My heart goes out to you Chickee and to the others here who must go it alone and find themselves watching a spouse/loved one who refuses to help themselves.
