just checking in, over a month sober

feeling great about not drinking!! i work at night and haven't made it to an AA meeting in about three weeks, but i feel okay and no temptation to drink. my biggest problem is dealing with my alcoholic BF and his mood swings. as soon as i know he's drinking, i become irritable and withdrawn and indifferent and b*tchy towards him. i told him tonight i just want to minimize conversation with him when he drinks because his moods shift with the wind and it makes me cranky. within minutes he wanted to go to sleep and now he is snoring next to me. thank you, Lord!!!! i can't enjoy him when he's been drinking, but sober he is a pleasure to be around.

Congrats on 1 month, that is wonderful. More congrats to making it with an alchoholic BF. i am on day 7, and if my husband were to drink, I do not know if I could avoid the temptation. I actually had a dream last night that he went out and had a few drinks, and in my dream I freaked about it.

I would think it would only be normal to get irritable with him when he is drinking. I have not found out yet, as I have been a hermit the last 7 days, but I am sure its not alot of fun to be around drunk people when your sober.

Congrats on a month. Yea that would be a pain having a bf/gf that drinks when your trying to stay sober. I think your doing the right thing by minimizing conversation-but thats really hard to tell someone who is drunk and irrational-usually telling a drunk person i dont want to talk to you makes them freak even more from my experiences, ha. But GL and keep up the sober life!

Congratulations on your sobriety!

Thanks for checking in and letting us know how you are.
I am sober and my husband still drinks. I bought a nice fuzzy blanket earlier this week. I let him know it was for the nights he chooses to drink more than a few and gets to sleep on the couch!
