When I went through the first step the last time my sponsor had me look at the first paragraph on page 30 (BB) and write on each sentence - how they applied in my life. A very interesting exercise!
Whole lot of pertinent info in those first 42 pages.
In my experience meetings were nice, but they weren't enough. I had to work the steps and to do that I had to get a sponsor to show me how.

The BB has so many wonderful pages of helpful information. There is a page which means a lot to me and describes the transformation which can happen if we just try: "These men found something brand new in life. Though they knew they must help other alcoholics if they were to remain sober, that motive became secondary. It was transcended by the happiness they found in giving themselves for others." BB pg 159. Life will take on new meaning and living one day at a time will become reality. Hang in there....don't give up...the miracle will happen!
The horrors of that last Thursday night still haunt me in my head.. Having a hard time letting it go and moving on.. There is a 12:15pm meeting tomorrow which I'll be going to....
TG welcome back!!! I know you can do it. If you're willing and it sounds like you are, then just suit up and show up - the gifts of recovery are there for you to take! it's a cunning baffling powerful disease = and it will get you (ie kill you) if you don't start building up your armoury - meetnigs, sponsor, stepwork, higher power, service.
you can do it!!!
