Six months today!!
Six months today!!
My last drink was May 30th. I can never quite figure out how to calculate your birthday.
Will i be 1 year on May30th or 31st? That said my last drink did go into the early hours of the 31st, so i guess it's best to say that today is my six month.
If someone had told me at the beginning of the year that i could go this long without a drink, lose my desire to have a drink and at the same time be happy about it and happy about the way my life is heading, i would never have believed them.
To all those that doubt they can go so long, it's easier than you may think. Dedication, focus, plenty of meetings, much time spent on SR, finding other interests and day by day, the time soon flys by.
Thank you all, your posts have helped me to achieve this.

Congratulations on 6 months!!! That is awesome and quite the achievement!!!!!
Huge hugs coming your way from Texas!
(((((((((((((( D I G D E R I D O O ))))))))))))))))))
As far as your sobriety date, it would be the 31st (at least as far as I would calculate it) but today is the 1st so 6 months it is. I don't count days I just stick by the day of the month, it is just easier that way. Of course February should be fun LOL! Makes me glad mine is on the 8th LOL!!!
Have a wonderful day and take some time to appreciate how far you have come since that last drink and perhaps reflect on where you would like to be when you reach a year.
Hugs,
Kellye

Congratulations Paul! You worked hard for this.
Exactly how I feel. Let's keep it going!

Thanks guys.
For me, a major focus has been my kids, establishing a good relationship with them and spending time on their interests and developments. So my daughter(15) now goes horse riding, my one son(11) goes to a theatre group, whilst my other son(13) has just started to learn scuba. I certainly wouldn't be doing these things with them, if i was drinking, it has only been over the last year that i have started to get them involved in their interests, sobriety has given me this.
I myself have learnt to scuba dive in sobriety, it's been a dream since i was a kid. I have also recently started a part time law degree, on a distance learning program with london uni. It's always been a big regret of mine that i gave up uni, mainly because of partying and drinking. So hopefully one day, i will be able to put my bucket away and stop window cleaning :bounce . At the moment i am enjoying that, as i find the subject fascinating.
It's been more over the last 11 months of AA and SR of finding a balance. But underpinning any interests i have, has to be my sobriety, because without it everything else will disappear.
I'd recommend anyone to follow their interests, we all had them as kids. With sobriety anything can be achievable. But it does take time, and these things aint gonna happen overnight.
