Back from my Cruise

Hi to my SR buds!!
I just returned from a 5 day cruise with 10 work friends. They didn't know I don't drink anymore. Several of them have seen me at my party girl times and were looking for the same. But I made it! Alcohol free! it was quite a sight to see a boat full of drunks. I was thankful and grateful every morning to wake knowing I wasn't the one trying to remember what I had done.
This sobriety stuff rocks!! i had been to Key West before but this time I really saw it and enjoyed it. To anyone early in sobriety or wondering if they can do it I just want to tell you You Can!
Noone really cared that I didn't drink, as a matter a fact most didn't even notice. Again, I was reminded that we are always the one obsessed abut our drinking not others.
it was great to be away but it is great to be home and back to my AA meetings and my SR forums. I thought about you guys everyday and it gave me great strength! I love ya all!!!!!!

That's great Jen, I'm glad you had fun!

I have found the same thing too, that most people don't notice what I'm drinking (or not). I was usually the one paying attention.

man thats a hardcore challenge! way to go! I also have found no one seems to care too much if i dont drink. Or they just dont know I am not drinking at all. Seeing others drunk while I am sober makes me not want to drink even more. I never knew it would be like that till I finally tried.

They did have 2 friends of bill meetings on the schedule. I went to one and no one was there or noone was sure what to say or do. I missed the 2nd chance because I was reading on the Serenity deck! Poor me!!
I tried to find the noon meeting at Key West but I went the wrong way on White St!

And yes it was awesome to be sober and I had just as much fun as everyone else without any of the post vacation regrets!!

I took a weeklong Alaskan cruise this summer and tried the friends of Bill meetings but of the 3 times I tried no one was there. I agree with the no post vacation regrets, I definately enjoyed that part of being sober. The added bonus is I can actually remember what I saw and did as well......no blackouts.
