New Here

Hey all! I have been in recovery for a long time. I have had long stretches of sobriety but have relapsed more times than I'd like to admit.

But honesty is the key, right? My slips are too many to count but I won't give up!.

At the moment, I have only been sober for 2 days...

It's great to talk with people who can relate!

Oh, I forgot to mention I was on this forum for a very brief time 3 years ago...

Well then welcome back to SR!

I've got a few years under my belt, but the fact is that we've both only got today. I'll worry about tomorrow when it gets here.

What caused the relapse in the past? Can you identify it?

My denial was a huge problem in the first couple of years. After learning more about the disease, I realized I had turned to the drink due to my lack of coping skills with certain situations. I had also disconnected spirituality as a result of my heavy drinking.

Welcome back to SR
and more importantly ...welcome back to recovery.

The book that finally convinced me to quit drinking is
"Under The Influence" by Mialam & Ketcham.

The 2nd sticky post on this Forum has excerpts.

Please keep in touch with us ...we do care.
