Have not been around here for a bit. My brother was on a motor scooter and hit a car head on. Fractured cheek, upper leg, broken hip, head trama collapsed lung. He has been sedated since last sunday night. We just found out he will be ok. They stopped doing cat scans yesterday.

I know he was drunk. He has not been without a drink in years. He was going up hill on the wrong side of the road. I'm sad that my brother thinks he will die drinking. And this almost killed him. He has never tried to stop. He is only 43.

I hate that he drinks, but I cannot control him. I hope this will make him wake up and see that he can stop.

I'm so sorry to hear about your brother's accident. It is heart wrenching to watch a loved one struggle with this disease. Sometimes it takes catastrophe for us to see that there is another way. I hope this will bring a moment of clarity for him. Are you doing ok?

The doctors are waiting to take him off sedation because of DT's. And wanted to say the person he hit is fine. But I know they must have went through alot. Hoping my sister can contact this person.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family...

(A friend of mine was a troubled alcoholic because his fiance left him - he hit a tree while driving drunk and clinically died 3 times on the way to the hospital. Today he walks with a limp that will never go away, lost his brother last New Years's by being hit by a drunk driver, and his mother passed away a few month's ago from cancer. He STILL remains sober today after all of that because of that accident - I hope the same happens with your brother.)
