All my blood tests came back

First...all I know about the DUI thing is that blood came back a .01.

Basically, I have Stage 2 Hypertension (at age 33!) I'm on some strong medication and I have to get very, very serious about losing weight. They're recommending 100 pounds!!! Atkins and exercise here I come.

I'm borderline Type 1 Diabetes. Again, can be controlled by massive weight loss.

My liver functions came back normal. Can you imagine? After all the drinking I did, I only inflamed my liver; no fatty, no cirrohsis. She said it would be perfectly back to normal in 3-4 months. I really dodged a bullet here.

My kidneys, electrolytes, and pancreas are all operating within normal functions.

Basically, The HP saved me. No more alcohol ever again. Despite what the cops say, I have been sober since January and my body is coming back together.

In the midst of my craziness, there was some good news this week.

Thanks SR!

Wow, what a wonderful opportunity to become sober at 33 when your body is still in good shape. I'm so happy to hear your test results, what great news!

Way to go!

In the fog we tend to ignore the really heavy toll this disease wreaks on our physical health. You can do this!

I'm glad that you had no permanent damage. You are so fortunate!

I hope this means the DUI charge was dropped?

Glad you are all right. Now get out there and take a nice long walk. We are good at forming habits, make a daily medatative long walk one of yours! I lost 65 lbs. by walking 3 to 5 miles everyday after I quit drinking. You are too important to us and yourself to let this slow you down.

Get going and best wishes,

Jon

No, the DUI hasn't been dropped because the blood test was taken about 16 hours after my release from jail and was ordered by my MD prior to my arrest.

The biggest problem for everyone on the DUI according to the lawyer, is that there is a window of about 45 minutes where I "could've drank" because nobody was with me. I was driving home from work alone so I have nobody to say I didn't. All I have is some wacky breathalyzer scores and a clear blood test about 24 hours after my arrest

There's some other stuff that helps, but I'd rather wait to post until it's been confirmed.

I've greatly improved my quality of life with diet and exercise. It is a great stress reliever and it really helps keep my head clear.

I'm glad things are going along well.

regardless of what anybody says you know the truth about your situation. I know a guy from rehab who tested postitive for phenobarbitol in rehab! he is primarily an alkie and i felt badly for him when he was discharged in spite of there being no evidence of him doing this prior to the test. anyway, to thine own self be true!

When I ask people how much they think I weigh, they almost always say 220 - 230, when reality is actually 280. I must carry it well, but at 6'1", I should be in the 180 - 190 range I guess. I know I'll definitely feel better about myself when I lose some weight.

Glad to hear you are healthy! Walking or jogging sounds like a good idea to me, especially since fall is already on us. Good luck!
