I've never counted ...you may be correct
Always pleased to have a new member
regardless of gender.
I just replied to another thread of yours sooo
Hello and Welcome again ..
I count my DOS starting with the
first day of not drinking
and I had many others before this one.
It took me awhile to find solid recovery.

When I first got sober I was told it was the day you stopped ... so even thought I drank on April 4th...I stoped, threw out the alchohol went to an AA meeting, and that was my BD.
When I got sober this time (different city) they say it's the first day you didn't drink....so I started from the morning after I decided not to drink anymore.
To me it doesn't really matter....it's just semantics and its really about not drinking now.
When I came to SR I thought some of the women were men and some of the men were women.....it was great, cause what I learned is that it doesn't really matter and that I make allot of faulty assumptions based on what sex a person is and assigning certain charactoristics to men and to women that are totaly inaccurate.
Put your sobriety first and the rest will fall into place

First of all welcome to SR!!!
My DOS I use my first day without a drink, some use the day of thier last drink, not really important and certainely not important enough to amount to anything because in the long run all that really matters is today!!!
On the more ladies then men........... well I will simply say I agree with ananda:
Alcoholism does not care about gender, age, race, social status, lack of religion, or what religion one belongs to, it is truely a none discriminatory KILLER!!!!

My last drink was on March 7, 2001. I counted my sobriety date as March 8, 2001 . . . my first full day without a drink.

I had to quit for 6 months back in 1993 because I had accidently cut my wrist
on my outboards propeller trying to get off some guy's fyke net.
I got stitched up and it was healing ok but then got some infection in it.Got a little scared and Dr. said no alcohol with the antibiotic.
I should have stayed sober.
I have been responding to your other thread but I wanted to respond here cause I had not heard that you stayed sober for 6 months. So that is good as you know that you have done it before and can do it again!
Welcome again!

My last alcohol-related arrest was 6/14/86 --- a Sat. night.....bummer...that makes for a very long weekend.....
After thinking about it for a few days, I called AA on Wed., 6/18/86, and was told there was a women's meeting the following Mon. eve. On Thurs., 6/19/86, after a long, hard days work, I popped open a beer, but after a few sips (sic), more like gulps, I decided that I really didn't want any more...and I did not drink again......
Now, do I use that Fri., 6/20/86, as my DOS, as it was my first day without drinking? Actually.....no. The date I use is Mon., 6/23/86, the day I made the decision to not drink any more and to work some kind of pgm., stood up, walked up, and received my 'desire' chip, [yes, I'm one of those who used, and still uses, that 'never' phrase (I'll never drink/use again); I see no difference between that and the phrase many use -- no matter what, I won't pick up -- to me they're saying the same thing].
So I guess one could say that my DOS is the date I first set foot on this road of happy destiny...... (o:

I last had beer last night , 9/20/08.The funny part was I was really jittery up to the first 3-4 beers.Never had that before.
If I'm successful my DOS will be today , the last day of Summer ! Autumn is a depressing time of year for me , thinking about the coming Winter and such.
