I got a year last week
so I thought I would pop in and say hi and thank you. I have a very strong feeling of gratitude to everyone here who helped me in my early days when I struggled. I have so many people to thank in AA as well and especially the big book people who believed the best way to help me was the specific precise way described by AAs founders.
The drink problem has been lifted from me and my life is completely changed. I am completely changed. I was always good at describing my problems but I am not so good yet at describing my blessings. So perhaps the best way is to describe what has happened to my daughter.
18 months ago she was very unhappy. She cut her arms and was asking teachers about how to die. She craved attention and love. Back then when I was drinking, I wasn't able to give her what she needed. She is a beautiful 15 year old who is intelligent and kind. Today, we are close. We shop together and laugh together and cry together. I am there for her whenever she needs me. Not always physically there since I do a lot of 12 step work but she doesn't mind that at all. I am so proud of her and I just wanted to say to you that when you helped me, you also helped her and her brother and sister.
Thank you all. If you ever feel disheartened and that newcomers aren't listening or getting it, don't give up please. I hope to be around a bit more now that I may have something to offer.
Love to you all.
Steph

Steph that is really awesome............. One year!!!
Thanks for bringing a tear to this old mans eye, your post says it all, just one alcoholic helping another, so beautifully simplistic, following the path followed by others.
Steph I look forward to you carrying the message, you are Experience, Strength, & hope for me and many others.
Thanks,
Martin
