The gifts of recovery
I would never have had the opportunity to spend last week on an Alaskan cruise if it were not for my sobriety. Just got home today and thought I would share with you the photos I was able to get of a bald eagle hunting within feet of the salmon fishing charter we took out while in port at Skagway, Alaska. As good as the trip was I missed all of you here at SR. Slideshow of Bald eagle hunting in Skagway, Alaska - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

I was in Alaska twelve years ago and nearly broke my neck from all the looking around at the scenery. It is such a place of beauty. Everywhere I looked there was water and rocks and ice and sky and mountains. It was breathtaking. Glad you had a good time!
Judith, thanks so much for sharing the beautiful pics.
The Gifts we are given in Recovery are, at times, more beautiful than words could ever express. I wish I could take pictures of the feelings of peace, contentment, confidence, faith, hope and unconditional love I have felt since I began my new life drug and alcohol free.
God Bless,
Judy

Judith - I feel the same way you do. I'm passionate about travel, and recently discovered the joys of cruising! I took an 11-day Mexican Riviera cruise in 2006, and a 14-day transatlantic cruise, Miami to spain, in 2007. Bliss! I loved every minute of it, and, best of all, was not tempted to drink whatsoever. Even with long, lazy days by the pools, longing right next to a poolside bar! Woo-hoo, this was true freedom!
Now, if I hadn't gotten sober(5-5-05), none of this would have been possible! I was a low-bottom drunk who had lost everything. This program is truly miraculous!
