I just thought of something..maybe you are further along than you think, and folks are calling you cause you have what they want.

Have some faith in yourself and your growth. :-)

Hrm... I must be tired, and my edit button disappeared. My ego insists I state that if you want clarification on the confusing part of my post, just ask.

Peace & Love,
Sugah

It's so heartbreaking to hear that voice on the phone and you know how drunk they are.
Imagine if the voice was your son? What did I do? I thanked him for calling and told him to call me back when he was sober. He did and has not had a drink since. Was it some thing I did or said? Heck no, I was just there and shared my ES&H with him.

Texasblind do not gamble your sobriety by doing things you do not feel you are ready for.

I have had folks call me who were ready to drink before, we just talked, I shared with them that I had done like them, I called someone in the program because I was ready to drink and I didn't drink. Everyone of the calls I have gotten except for my son had not drank, to my knowledge none of them did that day. What did I say? Nothing magical, I shared that I have been where they are at and I managed to stay sober.

If some one calls before they drink then the chances of them drinking that day are very small, no matter what you say to them, if they called they really do not want to drink, they just need to know they are not alone in the feeling and that others have stayed sober when they felt like drinking.

Texas there is nothing to worry about really, have you spoke to your sponsor about this?

Keep in mind there are no rules in AA!!! If you feel you are not ready to be fielding calls, take your name off of the list.

Also keep in miind that your sponsor is a mentor..... not a boss!!!LOL

The only way a sponsor can be your boss is if you let them, you can always get another one.

I really do not recall you saying a thing about your sponsor though.

BTW Texas congrats on 6 months on being on step 5, that is where the promises really start.

My sponsor is really laid back. He has 9 years and is one of those guys I want to be like. We see each other at meetings and go to dinner after the Saturday one.

I guess that's all I can say. He's a good guy.

Tell him what is up, I can assure you that he is not going to say you need to do a thing that may effect your sobriety.
