Another Campral thread:

I know I have seen this here several times, but I went back a few pages and couldnt find any posts on it. Anyone here taking Campral or have taken it? If so what are your experiences with it?

Thanks!!

I found it helpful. Besides helping with cravings it is supposed to help restore the brain's chemical balance that had been upset by alcohol. I think it helped my cravings a bit but mostly I want to get my brain's chemical balance back to where it's supposed to be. To undo the damage I've done.

Best to ask your doctor if they would try you on it for a while. It does take a little time to have an effect. Talk to your doctor.

It helped me with cravings a great deal. It works for some but not all. As with any meditation it is not intended to be a stand alone solution. I only had success with it once I used it as a supplement to a program of recovery.

it worked for 4 days but the librium the doc gave me for sleep may have triggered the relapse. or maybe it was the fact that i started back with the cymbalta. i find that SNRIs and SSRIs increase my cravings.

It didn't help me at all. I tried Naltrexone and think it worked a little better.
I tried Anatabuse which worked well until I drank on it.

I guess I'm a little off topic but I just read an alarming study. There has been SOME evidence that shows certain anti-depressants INCREASE alcohol cravings. It specifically stated Effexor which I took for almost 4 years.

paxil does it for me, but the anxiety is horrible without it. i can function as an alcoholic, i can't function with the anxiety.
