sabutex and alcohol

hi. i was wondering what people think of buprenorphine as a substitute for alcohol. i am a chronic alcoholic and find that once dosed with sabutex i no longer crave or withdraw from alcohol. is it worthwhile getting on the program? thanks.

None of us here have medical degress and thus cannot answer questions like this. Your best bet is to discuss this with your Dr. Please discuss all aspects of detoxing with your doctor, and preferably go to a detox unit and not try and detox on your own. Detoxing from alcohol can be very dangerous.

Welcome to SR!

Congrats on your working on getting sober. Personally I have no experience with the medication your are referring to. Also as accepting medical advice from anyone that is not a licensed medical profession would be unwise and potentially deadly. Please speak to a physician regarding your questions. We can offer support, encouragement, experience, strength, and hope here. I do hope you will continue to stick around.

This is from our SR Policy Rules & Regs Forum
Please do not give medical advice, medication advice, or psychiatric advice.
I too think a medically supervised de tox is the best way to proceed.
Be both sober and safe.
