End of day 7

Hi guys, just dropping in. Day 7 almost over and feeling OK. No meds just eating healthy, loads of water, plenty of exercise. Started to do yoga, totally rubbish, got all the flexibility of a plank! Just keeping busy and working on change. I dont let the old negative booze thoughts stay in my head, just see them and let them go, move on. It has been a bit tricky a couple of times, but I really want this, I should be over the physical stuff now so from here its about me and my disfunctional brain.

Take care all, Pete

Great job Pete! I also hit day 7 today. The hardest thing I'm dealing with is the temptation to just go out with my friends and get drunk. I am at a stage now where I can go out with them and not drink which is good.

Yoga seems interesting. I was thinking of getting back into Karate which I used to do before i started drinking. I guess any way to keep busy is good!

Hi Michael, Karate sounds good too, I like the self dicipline, not a strong point over the past boozy years!

Oh man, I had the exact same experience! I thought it would help me focus my mind but I just ended up hurting myself.

I think exercise is one of the best ways to "keep busy". I go to the gym & go mountain biking (nothing hardcore). I find it has become a big part of my recovery - getting in better shape, feeling good about myself, relieving stress, get my mind focused. I like the idea of karate too - the discipline & being around other people who are doing something positive for themselves.

Congratulations on 7 days (you too Micheal)!

I laughed as well, not at you, but at myself, I have not tried yoga yet, I am working out at the gym and hope to get flexible enough for yoga!

Congrats on day 7 and keep working on the change, it makes all the difference in the world.
