Brain Fog...noob.
Checked into inpatient detox/rehab on 3/6 (Glenbeigh in OH), got out 3/19, now doing the Intensive Outpatient & AA thing.
Drank wine every night for past year (750ml a night, more on weekends), vodka for a year before that. Liver enzymes slightly elevated, triglycerides at 500 and dropping (were over 1000 when I checked in).
What I'm wondering about is the brain fog? After 4 weeks, my head still feels all fuzzy, ears are ringing and generally feel like a 'normal' person would after not getting any sleep the night before. I always have had trouble sleeping and probably get 4-5 hours a night of 'good' sleep now, waking up 2 to 3 times a night.
Just curious as to what others experiences were with the fuzzy feeling inside the head? Is this a common thing as body gets used to a no alcohol lifestyle? Still feel better than a month ago, even with the fog but if it went away soon things would be A-OK.

I'm having the same problem. Memory seems shot too. I asked my shrink and he said that alcohol screws up our brain chemistry and that it usually corrects itself after a period of time - he didn't say how long. He also gave me some vitamin-type supplements containing Folic Acid and vitamin B (6 and 12), and omega 3 fatty acids. Also wrote me a scrip for thiamine. Can you talk to your doctor about this problem and see if they can come up with some vitamins and supplements that might help you find your way out of the fog. But do get medical advice. I'm not a doctor, just another victim of self induced brain-drain!
