Hi,

Registered with SMART.. Got a tricky weekend ahead and would normally rely on the old crutch for support but we will see what happens.

Good luck, Pete. My past drove me. I was filled with so much anger, resentment, fear, guilt...you name it. My program helped me confront it and leave it behind. Life is so much easier now. It such a solid feeling to know that all of my weaknesses have now made me strong.

My bottom was a glance in the mirror one drunk morning and was absolutely disgusted by what was staring back at me. I could not stand myself anymore. I had nowhere to go but up. I tried AA, some good points, but did not take in the end.

You might want to start with some inpatient. (It's safe and keeps you away from the alcohol for awhile.) From there, a psychiatrist would be good with the understanding that AA is not the way for you. The only problem is that most psychiatrists swear by AA. Good luck.

Hey Pete, how did the weekend go? Did you get to work on any of the SMART program? I hope it helped.

AA is 100% effective.....for those who utilize it as prescribed.

most programs are when looked at/judged that way Pink
LOL

AA's clearly not for everyone, and clearly doesn't work for everyone (wherever one lays the blame) so I hope SMART does it for ya Pete

Cant always get the hang of this posting! It was not a good weekend but I half expected that, too many demons to deal with too soon. But thats ok. I am home and know where I am going now.

Hi Tazman,

I am going to work at being sober rather than just hoping I can do it. Ive registered on SMART and got some stuff to work through. I can feel sorry for myself, whine about stuff, programmes etc or do something about it. The route I have chosen is, I understand not accepted by all, but the most important thing to me is to get sober and stay sober whichever programme I chose to help me do that. Thats all that matters.

Thanks for your support.

I have not seen any one knock the route you have chosen, if it works that is great, I hope it does, it has worked for others and could very well be the answer to your sobriety. Please keep us infored on how you are doing and ask questions, there are many similarities to getting sober no matter what program one is working.
