No Party Regrets

Ya know, one of my friends told me they were sorry I couldn't come to their party the other day. (I knew there'd be alcohol so I declined). He said they had tons of liquor and knew I would've loved it. (They know how I like to drink, I suppose my reputation precedes me.) I told him I was sorry I couldn't make it but I just couldn't get along with one of his friends. He asked me who it was that I couldn't get along with, so I told him... you're buddy ALCOHOL. And then I walked away. I think his jaw dropped to the ground. It was great. lol If felt good to not go and then shock everybody because I didn't. Make sense? Oh well. I'm cool with it. I don't think he knows what to think of me anymore though. haha

Once I became a non drinker...
I too quit hanging out with drinkers.

I found a new set of sober friends in AA
we share the same goals and lifestyles.

We do all sorts of interesting activities
and now I know what happened

Well done on your sober time!

I knew who my friends really were when I got sober. The ones I told I quit drinking, and that I had a problem acted concerned, but stopped calling me.

Then there were 2 or 3 that I knew were my real friends that offered their ears to listen and support. They even offered to go with me to AA meetings.

Hard times can show who your real friends are.

I love it! I told my husband about your conversation and he got a chuckle out of it too. You won't miss those old friends.
