30 days on...
Well, Thought I'd post a quick update, now that I've passed 30 days. I had a few stumbles getting started, but kept getting up and I'm pretty pleased with the progress I've made since then. I don't have any intention of going back to the place I was in when I quit! Every day I feel more excited, alive, and grateful... I'm going through probably the most significant lifestyle change I've ever had to make, but it's been a rewarding, if not hard-fought one. I know the 'real' work begins after you've been sober for a while, so I'm working on a plan that will help me deal with the thoughts and situations that will arise then.
But, the real point of this post is to thank you all for your words of encouragement. I don't post much (yet!), but I do read nearly everything up here, and it has definitely helped me to stay strong along the way. This hasn't been easy by any means, but it does seem to be getting better the more time I have under my belt.
Looking forward to contributing more as I keep going, and hopefully getting to know more of you.

Sounds like one of my original posts back in 2004 and I have been sober ever since!
Focus one day at a time, get loads of support, identify your triggers and know there will be challenges (as you have said.)

Congrats on the 30 days, sounds like you are working on your recovery, as long as you are willing to try other things if you are feeling really weak and keep working on your self you stand a chance. Keep in mind you are not alone, there is SR and other support groups out there if need be. What ever you do, do not limit your self, honesty and willingness are vital.
