Thumbs down Got a comment that makes me uneasy again...

My darn OCD... but as well as my usual fears about life if I didn't have my mother to care for my autistic/anxiety filled self. My memory... it's so bad... it's so horrific, I just hope it's the booze that does it, even my former stepfather said to me "I never expected you to say that" which I had said "My memory is so bad" ... and they asked me something about what happened earlier about how my former stepfather acts *he lives with us now* and I couldn't remember anything too well... has anyone ever had major memory issues or some memory issues or something like this because of booze being on it for a while? Sigh I'm OCDing and putting more crap on my table worrying about it but I'm just saying... sigh, makes me feel very uneasy and scared.

yes. my memory gets clearer every day, week, month, year that I stay away from alcohol. The older I get, the more memories of early childhood I get.

The more sobriety I get, the more memories of blackouts come clear.

Try not to worry too much about things, okay? We understand.

Alcohol screwed my memory up BIG time, it has improved drastically since I quit drinking 520 days ago.

The main thing I remember from when I was drinking is that I stayed drunk until I was willing to admit that my way did not work!!!

I tried quitting my way hundreds of times and I kept forgetting that my way of quitting NEVER worked.

OCD is in the anxiety spectrum of disorders. It's all anxiety. Try to relax a little Listen to some soothing music, like Enya. You are doing a great job of abstaining from alcohol and it will pay off physically and mentally in the long run I'm sure.

I have been sober since 6/7/1981 and I still have no recollection of the second half of 1972 and all of 1973.

So yes, memory loss can be and is a consequence of over indulgence in alcohol. It was worse, early in sobriety I had no memory from 1969 to about 1975 but a lot of it came back over time.

Yes Paulos you can stop obsessing about it now. All you really need to do is not drink today. Every day, a wee bit more of your body and brain will heal.

It does get better.

Love and hugs,

Don't worry, you didn't miss much - mostly Nixon and the beginnings of disco....

For me, large portions of the eighties are missing. But that wasn't a bad decade to forget.

"...Make a joke and I will sigh, and you will laugh, and I will cry. Happiness I can not feel, and love to me is so unreal..." -- Ozzy Osbourne

"Paranoid" by Black Sabbath (1970)

Finished with my woman 'cause she couldn't help me with my mind
People think I'm insane because I am frowning all the time
All day long I think of things but nothing seems to satisfy
Think I'll lose my mind if I don't find something to pacify

Can you help me, occupy my brain?
Oh yeah

I need someone to show me the things in life that I can't find
I can't see the things that make true happiness, I must be blind
Make a joke and I will sigh and you will laugh and I will cry
Happiness I cannot feel and love to me is so unreal

And so as you hear these words telling you now of my state
I tell you to enjoy life I wish I could but it's too late

Ozzy

(Thanks for the memory!)

Breathe, Paulos... Just breathe...

Let the world wash past you and just breathe...

That's all that matters... Just breathe...

In... ... ... ... Out... ... ... ... In... ... ... ... Out... ... ... ...

You are not alone, my friend...

Just breathe...
