Day 8, back on 75mg of Lamictal

Heh my doctor put me back on 75mg of Lamictal, so it's like I'm being rised close to 125mg again after I was going down on it 25mg every week for the past month... what a month in vain *yes I was drinking during the time* but the point is I'm close to the main goal... being free of alcohol/toxins, takin so long of course though to recover .

What did your doctor suggest about your drinking?

Oh my doctor was not happy, I believe I told the physcian assistant about a week ago when I went on the Invega med, so he is aware and of course wants me to stop which is what I'm doing

So Paulos are you stopping the same way again or have you learned from your prior mistakes and trying something different?

I assume that your doctor told you that if you drink on your meds it could kill you right?

He's warned me, and I'm stopping the same way, and Taz I'm going to prove to you that some people can go off alcohol without a recovery program I swear to god ever since I came here that's all you've said, so I will prove it.

Paulos you are not alone, I kept repeating the same mistake over and over again until it damn near killed me!

You are proving nothing to me or anyone else, if your way worked we would not eve be talking about this no would we?

Paulos I am very aware that some folks can and do quit without a recovery program, but I can assure you that they kept trying different things until they found something that worked.

Common sense tells people that is something does not work 10 times that when one tries the same thing the 11th time it is not going to work either.

That car is still in the ditch my friend, are you going to call a tow truck or let it rust?

Paulos

“You can have anything you want - if you want it badly enough. You can be anything you want to be, do anything you set out to accomplish if you hold to that desire with singleness of purpose.”
Abraham Lincoln

Stay focused on your truth, in reality it is the only one that matters.

Many people do get sober without aa, this is a fact. The only person that you need to prove it too is yourself!

Keep on keepin on!!

Desire is the first step...sobriety is a journey...

You can do this with or without aa...for me I went to 90 meetings in my first 90 days it helped me tremendously, I only attend one meeting a week now, it is all I need. Everybody is different that is what makes the world so interesting. Do what you need to do for you!

Yeah I'm trying my best :\ day 9, I ain't falling back into drinking/smoking I know it, after a while you realize a bottle of booze is a bottle of poison, so if you drink it it's only going to hurt you.

Basically I'm still going through my symptoms, shortness of breath, sleeplessness, anxiety in the chest, ocd, anxiety, a LOT of forgetfulness I'll tell you that... a lot of memory impairments.

Yeah good luck dude. Write a book if you make it

10 times? I am up to at least 30.

For me, Taz is right and I am fighting against the wind thinking I can do this on my own. Maybe that is why I am secretly writing in SR's forums. I went to AA for 2 weeks (I think ) everyday. I heard the same stories that I am saying to the group over and over again. I think I am fooling myself deep down. I don't want to see myself in 5 years if I am wrong.

A program for abstaining from alcohol does not have to include AA. I cobbled together my own individual ways with success. However, I do think you need SOME method to rely on if only to make it easier. Stopping the abuse is never easy for an alcoholic--look at all these people on this board struggling. For every one person using SR, there must be 1000 others floundering out there.

Good luck.
