Homer,
Long time. Good to see you here.

I was always baffled too, just couldn't say no. But I found an answer and haven't had to fight for a long time.

If I am out of line, please don't be afraid to tell me so, but if you really are tired of doing this and want to stop for good, let me know. I may be able to get you connected with some one in your area who might be able to help you. If you are interested, pm me.
Jim

Maybe you should just quit one at a time. For me quitting was hard enough by it self. Hope you are doing ok.

I couldn't imagine quitting both butts, and beer...beer was hard enough. Cigarettes were the only thing that kept me sane during the withdrawels. I'm sure you'll get it though...I'm working on day 9, but it does kept tempting being the weekend and all, but I'll be fine. Good luck man

Hi again Patrick...

I repeat...A medical supervised de tox is a wise idea.
Are you still taking med's?

Be safe and sober too.

Patrick:

Call me, you have the number. I will be home. Carol is right. You have reached the point where detoxing at home may be very dangerous for you.

You know I care. And you also know, that I know how hard this is for you. You can do this.

Call me, and I will call right back, as I have unlimited CHEAP long distance. I will keep you busy on the phone.

Take care.

Love and hugs,

dont beat yourself up over it IMHomer, we are all human and make mistakes, sometimes even the same mistakes over and over when it comes to addiction . The beauty is the ability to learn from that mistake and make a change which seems like you are already doing.

Good luck and hope your not feeling to down today ;o

Hey Patrick, are you trying to beat my record? You know I spent 10 years trying to quit my way and always wound up drunk again saying things like:

i blew it again,3 days no cigs and no beer,WHY?
Of course I never tried the cigs at the same time I tried quitting the booze.

For me the answer to the question why was twofold:

1. I am an alcoholic.
2. I was trying for the 100th time to quit my way.

Would you like to know how I quit after 40 years of drinking and 10 years of trying to stop?

Another 2 part answer:

1. I admitted my way did not work.
2. I became willing to do what ever it took to get and stay sober!

Are you willing to do what ever it takes to get and stay sober?

Hey Patrick - Just stopping in to express some admiration. I know it's been a long road for you, but you always come back. Like Music said, one of these days it's going to take.
