Hi Sara,
Thank you for replying, I appreciate it. I do suffer a bit from low self esteem and social anxiety to some extent. But when I stop drinking I feel great about myself...but I don't seem able to relax and enjoy myself the same without booze.
I can drink a few drinks and leave it but I don't enjoy them and I hate to leave so generally I dont drink at all unless I can get smashed. Sometimes I can get drunk without getting too badly wasted but I always hit rock bottom emotionally after a heavy night out at some stage...and I find myself wishing I didn't drink. But then to imagine never drinking again seems to me to be condemning myself to a life or dullness and boredom. Thats how I know I have a problem.
I sometimes ask people for their thoughts and sometimes I get the feeling that I'm not the only one in this particular situation.
Thanks again for your reply,
Seanie

Seanie,
First things first. If you believe that you have a problem you should go to your medical doctor. Then when at the doctor, you need to be honest. From there your doctor will recommend and/or refer you in the right direction.
