When i get cravings i cook like crazy. Just small intricate things like tarts or pizzas. =) Even if it is the middle of the night and i'm not hungry i do it anyway. Baked goods always make lovely gifts plus my family has never been one to turn down any sort of homemade foods. It keeps my mind and hands occupied so i can distract myself from compulsions to drink.

The best thing I have found is exercise. When I first quit drinking my poor little dog didn't know he could walk that much. We were constantly going for walks around the block. It did keep me from driving to the liquor store.

(No puppies were hurt during these walks)

My doctor gave me a drug called Campral which is designed to prevent the cravings. I haven't been on it long but when ever the craving starts I look at the clock and keep thinking that that's how long I have to wait for a dose. I'm on the low level now but once my body has adjusted the dosage increases. I've only been off the bottle for three days after drinking since I was fifteen and then ten years of drinking all day long and haven't had withdrawals due to my doctors treatments and the only weird things about me are that I'm a little nervous, full of energy, and I always have to have a carbonated drink with me as I mostly drank beer.

Hey PTSD,

So do you feel Campral has helped you?
