If that were the case, why would someone need to post on an alcoholism forum?

Well, I had a serious control problem.

There was a time when I could have one or two, and so "prove to myself" that I didn't have a problem with alcohol.

The problem was, that the vast majority of the time I drank myself stupid.

And everytime I got in trouble, I had been drinking.

You are certainly welcome here if you are unsure, and yes, you are in the right place.

So I guess my question to you would be, do you ALWAYS stop after one or two or do you sometimes drink too much, even if you don't mean to?

Welcome to SR,

Ted

It depends of my mood
Some times I drink 2 or 3 and that’s it
And other times maybe I’m feeling a bit more depressed so I want to get drunk and get drunk
But it’s not like a needed every day
I drink like once a week or every 15 days and sometimes I have a few and don’t feel like more
Sometimes I say today I’m going to finish the bottle of wine
So it depends
This anybody feel like me?

Hi again Mar13...

Yes, there are different stages of alcoholism.
Only you and your doctor can decide if you are addicted.

For information please read

http://www.time.com/time/magazine/ar...640436,00.html

And

If you want to quit drinking
you are in the correct Forum.

Blessings

Thanks a lot
I’m going tomorrow to see my doctor so i will see what she says
Sometimes I feel an alcoholic
But other times I think I could be normal like anybody else
I think European where drink more then Americans
You go out and everybody drinks there
Here people are more I can’t explain it in English

But for example when I go to party’s here; there is only coke and sprite for drinking
There in Europe there is wine, beer and its not a big deal even they sell beer in the mc Donald’s there and its not such a big deal like here
When I’m there i don’t feel an alcoholic but when I’m here people look at me different maybe it’s a different culture and that why all this obsession i don’t know
I bet if I live there I will be normal

Let us know how that works for you. I know that I moved a number of times hoping that a new place and new surroundings and new friends would help me drink differently....like other men. My bet is that if I moved to Europe and started drinking, I would drink the same way I drank here. The problem is I can't leave ME behind in the US. When I realized that I drank because my eyelids were open and that people, places and things were not the reasons why I drank the way I drank, I had a better understanding of my alcoholism. That is but a small part of the first step. Let's face it....none of us got here from eating too much chinese food. I've never seen someone come in here or an AA meeting and say, " Hey guys, I was bored tonight and thought I would see what's happening in the local AA scene or recovery website etc." So, if you can dig down and get honest....Why are you here Mar?

Maybe there's slightly less paranoia about alcohol in most parts of Europe than in the States, but there's just as many alcoholics. Go to Germany: you can buy (good) beer anywhere for 50c a time, and there's not such a big deal about drinking in public (you can drink on the tram, or in the park and no one much cares). And there's drunks everywhere - in the parks, at the railway stations, sitting slumped in the fastfood places. Or France - highest rates of cirrhosis in the world.

If you're an alcoholic, you, your body and alcohol make up a nasty little threesome. I'll be like that whereever in the world you put yourself...

i don’t think i explain my self very well of course the alcoholics every where yes germans are very drunker and french english
But i see more here then in my country
Here alcohol and other parts of Europe is a big deal
Like for example England its so expensive buying alcohol i think there is more drunks then in Spain
but don’t get me wrong
i not saying Americans are drunker ey I’m just try to explain my situation and "not trying to offend anybody here"

No offence taken! I've been a monumental drunkard in half a dozen countries! (Like it says in a song I just heard, I was "half drunk all the time, and all drunk the rest".)
