Just a question

I know someone who is coming up on their one year clean and sober.

is it call an anniversay or a birthday i have heard it both ways?

I have heard it both ways also. I am not exactly sure of the difference other than wording. But my thinking is people who call it birthday are seeing their sobriety date as the date they started a new life, a birth of sorts. That is the way I prefer to think of it, anyway.

When someone celebrates a recovery anniversary, I usually say happy birthday and give them a birthday card.
But I've heard it referred to both ways, also.

I think some grroups use Birthday
so they can serve cake at the time of sobriety meeting!


Either way...it's an awesome accomplishment.

The cake is IT & I get to pick out my own cake, CHOCOLATE!!!!!! LOL My home group gave me money to get my own cake! LOL Since they did that I may get a bit self centered!!!
