This story brought me to tears

I have had thoughts about trying to drink in moderation over the past few years...never succumbed, thank God. Part of my research brought me to a fellowship called Moderation Management (MM). Well, read this story if you think alcoholics can drink in moderation....

Sad, very sad. I'm reading Stanton Peele's book called "The Truth About Addiction and Recovery". He makes a lot of good points, but I keep coming back to Audry Kishline's tragic story. Peele was an early supporter of the MM movement.

Wow. Thank you for sharing this. I felt really angry with myself because I have driven drunk numerous times. That innocent people should die because I want a drink and then climb in the car is outrageous. It's just outrageous. What a sad story for everyone.

That brought tears to my eyes too, thinking about the thousands of times I drove intoxicated. I thank God daily that he protected everyone else from my insanity.

Moderation? No thanks, I'll take another 24 beautiful hours of abstinance.

That is about the saddest thing I've ever read. I don't know how anybody can survive that kind of loss and I don't know how I could survive if I were in Audrey's position, either. I just hope she can stay clean...

Wow. I had hear that the founder of MM went to prison and all, but this story really brings it home.

I don't think alcoholics can drink in moderation, but I read this story anyway. I am glad I did and I am glad you posted it here.

The very sad thing is she still drank after the tragedy and it is a good thing for everyones' loved ones she didn't (drunkenly) get behind the wheel. Or did she and everyone lucked out! (after all that jail time too)

Mike thanks for sharing this.....really amazing story-such sadness-

I guess as I do not drink it is things like this that I do not fathom why someone would actually drink again after killing two people and all that jail time. I'm learning slowly of the disease in a whole-things like this is when I get stuck and baffled.

I do not believe people can drink in moderation when they are an A. My brother thought he could 4 DUI's , a bleeding liver, loss of kids, wife, house, job....jail time. He still said he could drink in moderation after all that and more. Now he is in jail again waiting to get out-for the 3rd time. (3rd time is a charm? I pray)

Hard to believe....but I'm learning!

Thanks for sharing this!

I’m not going to read it, I don’t want to cry today. Also, I’ve seen it happen too many times over the years. But thanks for the reminder. I’m glad you didn’t spin the moderation wheel if you be alcoholic.

What really tore at me was the foregiveness that the mother of the dead girl was willing to extend to Audrey. It makes me realize how far I have to go in my own journey.

Oh great, details. Now I’m curious. I guess I’ll have to read it later.

But for the grace of God.......... this tore me up inside............ I have driven so drunk in the past I had to close one eye to where I was not seeing double, how in the world I only had one accident while drunk can only be an act of God, the fact that it was just my truck in it was even a bigger miracle.

Forget the MM stuff, alcoholism kills both the guilty and the innocent way to often in to many different ways including driving drunk.
