Thumbs up

Welcome Grant to a helpful site. I have found this
place here in Sober Recovery to be my lifeline
in recovery.

It doesnt replace face to face meetings right nearby
in ur own hometown....but is extremely helpful when
you are unable to get to one.

There are many here going thru similar situations
as you and me.

All I do is post something, whether its a topic, or
question, or whatever help im needing at that
moment....it could be a thought or just needing
someone to listen to you.

Maybe u dont understand something and u need
someone else to explain it to u.....

Just like u did with ur first post....

I spotted ur question and hopefully others will
too and come here to share their own
thoughts on it....

I can only share what i know or my own
experience, strengths and hopes on it....

I for myself have found SR a very useful
tool in my own recovery.

With just celebrating 17 yrs of many one
days at a time collected to get me here
today. SR folks have helped me along.

I can not see anyone here but thru a
sense of caring and concern and suggestions
from folks in here, i havent found it
necessary to pick up a drink for that
day,,,,,

However seeing people in recovery and
hearing the words of wisdom can
be found in meetings. You can witness
urself first hand how the program of
recovery actually works....

If there is anything u dont understand
or just need some suggestions about
recovery or whatever u r going thru
please feel free to ask....

Someone when u least expect it will
have the right words you will need
to hear to help u thru....

SR has been there for me more times
than they know,,,,and I so appreciate
them here....

Again, im glad u are here and dont
hesitate to ask and then u shall
recieve.

Thanks for letting me share.

Hi my name is Sharon and Im
an alcoholic.

By the Grace of my HP and
people like you here in Sr I
havent found it necesaary
to pick up a drink of alcohol
since 8-11-90.

For that and you I am truely
grateful.

Thanks for letting me share.

Hi Grant1,

A little more than a year ago, I found this site. It really helped me out in very early recovery and now a visit here is part of my daily recovery program....There is a great cross section of ideas and experiences which everyone shares.....Sometimes you find a situation "just like yours" and learn how someone else handled it..........I learned early on to be willing to accept new ideas........
MY OLD THINKING WAS GETTING ME NOWHERE..........Keep posting and reading!!!! Visit all the forum sites, I get alot out of the "Family and Friends of Alcoholics" forum......you can read how our behavior (alkie) affects our loved ones......... Work Hard and Enjoy Life........Ned

Hi Grant1, and welcome:

You'll get a good idea of the help you can get here by reading a lot of posts. I agree with those who feel that this kind of online forum is helpful in addition to having daily contact in person, especially with real live warm/reality-check AA meetings where you live. If this online option had been available when I was struggling with getting sober, it would have been really great.

In both places, you'll get what you need from most people. You do need to be prepared for the fact that there is the occasional "sickie" wherever you go who will not be helpful - who might get tied up with minute and irrelevant details rather than the message, for example. If you want to "throw the baby out with the bath water", that kind of person will give you the reason. Personally, I choose to be sober One Day at a Time, so I ignore the occasional negative action while learning to forgive (often not easy).

Progress, not perfection, it says in the Big Book of AA, which is an absolutely incredible program, imho.

Again, welcome and blessings from the Snowgoose.

Welcome Grant,

You found the right place!

Hang around a bit and I am sure you'll feel at home in no time at all.

What do you think of this place Grant1? Just click on HOME, RESOURCES, and
SOBERTIME in the upper left hand corner to get information/help and also read the stickys at the top of each forum you go to.
