Did my first lead.

Wow. You know I wasn't nervous about it, until a few minutes before I was introduced. My sponsor, fellow sponsees, and my sponsee were all there to listen. I told my story, and it's amazing how quickly that hour flies by. Whats even stranger is that I hardly remember what I said. My sponsor said that was normal, and even went further to say, that's when you did a good lead. Everyone said it it was a great lead, but with my struggling self esteem, my shortcoming always tries to intrude.

Regardless, I enjoyed doing the lead, and I hope what I said helped someone who was listening. That's what it's all about.

Mr. Signal 30, it shows that if we live this program we can give it to others. Way to go!

Congratulations Tom! Give it away and you get to keep it.

What does "did my first lead" mean?

I go to AA daily and I have never heard of this.

Sugah 08-12-2007 04:50 PM

Do you go to speaker meetings, dgillz? The person speaking is "giving a lead." In other words, sharing their E, S & H, "how it was, what happened, & what it's like now."

Peace & Love,
Sugah

(p.s. Good job...it's how it works)

Very cool !!!

I remember the first time I shared my story. I was maybe 60 days sober, and at the local Salvation Army doing H & I . A roomfull of about 75 men ! I was nervous to say the least, but my sponsor said I had them on the seat of their chairs.

I'm not sure if the term "Lead meeting" is what it called in other parts of the world. But Sugah pretty much explained it.
