Just checking in

Hi everyone. I'm doin ok.

Been going to 2 or 3 meetings every day since I got out of detox.

I am staying in close touch with at least 4 members of my home group, daily.

I wrote out the beginning of a fourth step yesterday and unloaded some of the things that have been bugging me with a good friend in the program last night. A partial 5th step. It really felt good. Lotsa baggage here...

I am also getting honest about other things that I have been doing in my life that were wrong.

I was really feeling that "lingering impending doom", or as I have heard it put, "Emotional inebriety".

I was able to get my work to put me on a morning shift, so I'm not constantly off-balance and so I can get to a meeting every night.

I never did a 90 in 90, but I am going to do it this time. When I first got sober in'89 I did 60 in 60, but never 90 meetings in 90 days.

You see, I need to double or maybe even triple my efforts at doing the things that will keep me sober.

What I was doing really was not enough (for me) and it didn't work!

Best to everyone,

Ted

Great going Groucho!!!! When I came back in I had to get immersed in AA. It was an all or nothing deal this time. I have to do the deal. I already tried the half measures. I've already hit two meetings today, had breakfast with an alcoholic and talked to my sponsor. Tonight is birthday night, so I'll get to watch people pick up some long term chips. One guy has been sober since 72. And if I don't do something real stupid between now and bedtime I'll thank God for another 24 hours. Keep doing the deal. There are a couple of people in my group who have been picking up white chip after white chip. It has been humbling to watch the struggle. I don't ever want to be there again. So, I stay grounded and remember that I'm a drink away. But for today that option is off the table until after midnight.

Awesome !!!

It works, it really does. And, things get better with time.

Just hang on to your a** for now and tough out the initial rough ride. Call people, go to meetings, do what's suggested. You'll be OK.

Hi, Tedifer, sent you the information requested. Actually, it seems our phone contact is particularly good, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. As I said in our last conversation (Friday?), you're doing great and keep it up. However, please don't go so overboard that you get stressed. What I'm noticing the most is your new and improved ability to be honest with yourself and others, and to identify and solve problems.

Just to give you a good giggle, because of all this, I'm looking for a meeting schedule in order to get my bod back in the rooms after a bit of a (sober) absence. But 'cha know, stinking thinking can take over anytime and it works cuz I work it. -M
