Sensitive to sound
Sensitive to sound
Hello all Day 5 has started and it's going quite well. A bit anxious, some craving, bad sleep. But there is one thing that worries me a bit.
I have become very sensitive to sound. During the day it's not that bad but when I lie down every sound becomes much louder and it frightens me everytime I hear it, even though I know exactly what it is (train, dog barking, clock). Anyone had the same?

I sleep with the TV on. I'm not very sensitive to normal sounds, but sudden noises I'm not expecting like a car horn or ambulance siren seem to really startle me.
Glad you seem like you're doing better now. I'm on day 12, and I think the worst of the early stuff is over. I just seem to be extremely tired some days. Things will settle down for you, too, I'm sure. It's good that you're keeping in touch.
All my best;
BHJ

i use headphones and an mp3 player to sleep most nights.
i listen to books on tape. i usually fall asleep within 15-30 minutes.
like baldheadedjohn, i'm extremely tired some days.
but i'm confident i'll get more energy.
i just remember the scene from Forrest Gump, when he rescued his
female friend, and brought her back to her house. She slept for a month or something.

Exactly the same here. I think it's because alcohol depresses the brain and when sober it takes a while to adapt to the new level of "input".
I sleep without any kind of outside noise now, even without a fan or other white noise. But I do remember sudden noises startling me.
During very early de-tox, I was really sensative to everything. Sound, light, touch....my nerves were definitely use to being sedated.
