Newbie here...
My husband admitted to having a drinking problem this past Friday. He has not had a drink since last Thursday night.
He is under a doctor's care (was put on Xanax).
When will the tremors stop?
He has a wild look in his eyes.
And still acts drunk, but I know he is not......
Can someone shed some light on this for me?
Thanks!

De-tox lasts different periods of times, and has different intensities for everyone. Best case, 3-5 days. Worst case, 7-10 days. I'm not a Doctor, and this is my expereince and what others have shared about thier experience.

Yes it does vary and I did not use
a drug for de toxxing
so my best advice is to call his doctor.
You can also take him to an ER
or call EMS if he runs into serious problems.
Blessings to both of you

I am not a Dr. either but I know that xanax acts much the same way as booze in the body.
Drugs like xanax, atavan, klonipin, valium and librum all act silmilarly, they are known as benzodiazapines.
Librium is usually used to detox someone safely from alcohol. a certain dose is given and then is reduced over several days until the body is past the dangerous withdrawel from booze.
I have not heard of using xanax that way, but I really don't know if it can be.
Best advice is to ask your Dr, and if you don't like the answers, get a better Dr, one that knows about alcoholism.

Thank you for each of the replies. I really appreciate it.
My husband has been drink free since last Thursday night. He has not had any Xanax for two days now.
He still walks like he is high on something. It is strange. Is this normal?
He does not talk about drinking at all...
Is it possible that he had a stroke and none of the issues he was having before even stemmed from alcohol?
His pupils are still big, and he is shaky, but not real bad...
Thanks again for all your support.
I am glad I found this board.

No one here can tell you what is going
on with your husbands health.
Nor should you listen to on line opinions.
You do need a doctor for that.
Sorry for your situation...Blessings
