Has anyone brought up SR at a meeting?

There has been a few times where somebody has mentioned that early in the morning they struggled and there wasn't a meeting. Another time I recall someone couldn't get a ride. There has been a few times where I've come close to bringing up this forum but have clammed up. Has anyone done this?

Just curious because I like all of us, feel this forum helps get me through the day.

Thanks!

I sometimes refer to "online support" when sharing about methods I use for maintining sobriety but I never mention SR specifically.

I have recommended SR to others outside of meetings though.

I sort of do the same as Peter..

As far as I know...only 1 member of my
home group ever joined SR tho several
asked for the URL
He did not stay....here or in AA.
Most are not into PC's.

However...
When chairing meetings...
I have used AA Thought as a topic.
(You can find that daily in our 12 Step Forum)
Then I do give SR and AAOnline
as sources.

I make reference to "online" recovery when I talk about various ways to remain sober or additional support. There is one member of my group on here and others have asked about it but I don't know if they joined or lurked or blew it off.

I know I found SR when I was searching for speakers and when I realized what all is on here I have stayed ever since. I needed it at that point in my recovery (1 year sober and going crazy!) and all the sudden there it was. I imagine that can be said of all of us. Regardless of where we are on this path, we found it when we needed it most.

Hugs,
Kellye

I mention that I belong to an online community, that's all.

Thumbs up

During a meeting--I never mention "SR" specifically--but afterwards, when it is over I have talked to individuals who came up to me and asked what website I had been using and gave them the website info. They were very appreciative.

Me too, and if I've read something that I think is pertinent to the topic or discussion, I mention it. I've also sent a link to the SR forum to many AA friends.

I've mentioned "online recovery forums" to my sponsor, and he's of the mind that stick with whatever works. He's not familliar with any, but doesn't look down on them. My opinion is that it's probably not a good idea to talk extensively about it at a meeting. Some people are "AA only, and all you need is AA", and don't even approve of people taking prescribed 'head meds' (I'm on Effexor myself). I don't care what they think. I do what I need to do to stay sober. Hope this helps!

Take care.

I mentioned my choice to utilize online recovery forums once at my f2f meeting and it was met with attitude...like it didn't count as a real live support system or fellowship. I don't think i'll mention it again in a meeting. But 1 one 1, after the meeting and with people I sponsor, I tell them about SR all the time.

after meetings, or when hanging out at the club.

if someone says something particularly brilliant, I just reference it that I read it online

ok,
qualification, sharing, etc.
is about
you hope, strenght and recovery
"how it was, how you got here, how it is now"
and, then there are the "alcohol only" groups
also, with literature table, only AA related

i'm of the persuasion
and i extend it to others
"share what you want, share what you need to stay here"

so
i have mentioned "sober recovery.com"
as a mini-meeting i have for support
i've e-mailed the site to others in recovery
i've even had two sr.com members speak at a group i go to
and
introduced them as such

essentially, we're at a meeting for ourselves
so
essentially, what's the big deal?

best
