PC,
It sounds like you are hurting. I hope you can find the help you need, if you are ready to recieve it. You don't have to keep drinking. You can get sober, if you really want sobriety. Going to a meeting is a very good idea.
peace,

Hi problemchild, my name is Sharon and I am an slcoholic. Thanks to an open mind, support of my lover, friends, family, an the wonderful people at this site, I am recovering and 6/28 will mark my 7th month of sobriety. So, I don't know how qualified I am to give you any advice, but I am going to ask you to go to a qualified doc to get evaluated if you haven't already...get help.
Maybe you would do good with anti craving meds, maybe therapy, maybe shock therapy, ok, the last statement was my wierd sense of humor..But my point and I rarely have one, is, you are ill, alcoholism is a disease and should be treated accordingly. Every professional book I've read on alcoholism suggests being evaluated when possible. We need to start treating the disease, and stop beating ourselves up when we find we have it,,,,Ok, I only wish you life, and a healthy one at that....hope3
Sharon I know one guy in the rooms of Fredericksburg that has had shock therapy several times since he got sober, he said it helped.... not his drinking which he had already quit, but some other issues.
A DRUNK FELL IN A HOLE AND COULDN'T GET OUT
A businessman went by. The drunk called out for help. The businessman
threw him some money and told him, "Get yourself a ladder." But the drunk
could not find a ladder in this hole he was in.
A doctor walked by. The drunk said, "Help, I can't get out." The
doctor gave him drugs and said, "Take this, it will relieve the pain," The
drunk said thanks, but when the pills ran out, he was still in the hole.
A renowned psychiatrist rode by and heard the drunk's cries for help,
He stooped and said, "How did you get there? Were you born there? Were you
put there by your parents? Tell me about yourself, it will alleviate your
sense of loneliness." So the drunk talked with him for an hour, then the
psychiatrist had to leave, but he said he'd be back next week. The drunk
thanked him, but he was still in his hole.
A priest came by. The drunk called for help. The priest gave him a
Bible and said I'll say a prayer for you. He got down on his knees and
prayed for the drunk, then left. The drunk was very grateful, he read the
Bible, but he was still stuck in that hole.
A recovering alcoholic happened to be passing by. The drunk cried out,
"Hey, help me, I'm stuck in this hole." Right away, the recovering
alcoholic jumped in the hole with him. The drunk said, "What are you doing?
Now we're both stuck here." But the recovering alcoholic said, "It's okay,
I've been here before and I will show you the way out."
Took me a while to find this, one guy in our group usually recounts this story when we speak at a detox.
This story makes so much sense to me. AA works for me because we've been there.
