Signal30 has a year today!!!!!
Rock on Man!
I've got just over six months and for some weird reason I seem to be getting the exact same advice from people I don't really know in AA at various meetings.
They are all telling me to just keep doing the things I am doing.
What a concept!

congrats sig, i just got my year on may 20th... feels pretty rockin, right? at my ten p.m. meeting right after i picked up my chip everyone yelled "how'd ya do it?" so now it's your turn... how'd ya do it?!
Well, first of all Taz I would like to say thank you for recognizing. And thank you all for your comments.
When I admitted that I needed help with my drinking to my girlfriend, I was a drunken sobbing mess. She said she would be there for me and would help in any way she could. Minutes after that she told me to go to bed, and I passed out. Approximately 10 hours later I woke up hung over (as usual), and my girlfriend gave me numbers of places that had AA meetings. I first thought to myself "Oh Lord what did I say to her". It would have been so easy to just to say to her that I just drank too much that day, and I was talking crazy. But then I looked over at greatest gift God gave me, my son, who was 5 months old at the time, and I knew that I couldn't be a good father unless I made a change. My father (not an alcoholic) wasn't and still isn't in my life much, and I vowed that I wasn't going to do the same with my son. So I looked at the meetings she wrote down and I saw an address of an AA clubhouse that was down the street from me. I called and received the information on when the next meeting was.
Later that evening I went to an 8:30 open discussion meeting, liked what I saw and heard, and from there the seed was planted. By my third day and meeting I met the man who became my sponsor. I also received a list of phone numbers that I could call before picking up that drink, and everyone pitched in and got me my Big Book.
So how have I stayed sober so far?
I admitted that I was the first step.
I call my sponsor every day.
I follow directions my sponsor gives me with my step work.
I go to meetings. Listening to what is said. Not comparing differences, but finding similarities. Sharing strength, hope, and unity.
I pray. Not asking God to always help me, but also thanking my higher power for all the good things in my life. I've learned that God truly does do for us what we cannot do for ourselves.
By always trying to practice Acceptance.
The list could go on. When I first came into AA I did it for my son. I soon realized that I had to stay sober for myself. If I don't do it for myself, I cannot be a good; dad, future husband with my girlfriend, son, friend, and certainly could not be able to help fellow alcoholics/addicts.
Like the last six words that are said at a meeting...
It works if you work it!!!
Also you people have helped also. It's nice to have a good site that broadens your resources with fellow AA members and others in recovery. Thank you!!!

What a wonderful post. You sure do get it.
Congratulations on your 365 one day at a time collection.
From one dad to another... the little one may have opened our eyes and we started this path for them and when we walk this path for us...we still are doing the best for them as well. Congratulations Dad. Father's day is just around the corner... You have given yourself one wonderful gift.

Oh and to answer your question about what Signal 30 means.
I am a police officer. A signal 30 is the code for a person with warrants.
Signal 30 Charles - (Traffic Capais)
Signal 30 Mary- (Misdemanor)
Signal 30 Frank- (Felony)
Oh and I don't have any warrants. lol.
Thanks again for all of your comments. I'm on my way soon to one of my home groups. My Sponsor will be there, and I will be getting my one year coin. I made it to roman numerals!!!
Thanks all!!!
