Beyond the Influence, What a BOOK!

Wow,

I have been reading "Under the influence" and I am finally gaining a glimpse into why I drank the way I did.

This book explains in great detail the disease concept of alcoholism and how alcohol affected me at the cellular and brain levels.

Man, I never had a chance.

I have also come to deeper understanding of why I must maintain total abstenance.

I will continue to do it one day at a time though as I have found support like no other in AA.

Many of you reccommend this book and now I see why. It is simply a must read for anyone interested in the subject.

I also got "Beyond the Influence" and I will read that when I am finished with this one.

Thanks to everyone here who reccommended these books, I think I'll join you!

Ted

Ditto. "Beyond the Influence" is an eye opener, crucial to anyone who needs to understand this devilish illness...

"Under the Influence" puts the lid on the coffin of disease or bad morals & weak willed, "Beyond the Influence" puts all the nails into the coffin. Both books are a must read for any one who thinks that alcoholism is not a disease.

Not every one can become an alcoholic by drinking, but anyone can become a drug addict to addictive drugs.

Thanks for sharing Groucho. Yeah, reading Under The Influence was like hearing my life story. I'll read Beyond shortly.

I just ordered Beyond the Influence off amazon a couple days ago. I read Under the Influence awhile ago and could not put it down. It's so interesting to learn about what's going on in my own body.

Yep and darn scary where it can take our body and soul if we do not stop!
