Campral seems to be helping with cravings...

Its been a few days now and thoughts of drinking leave just as fast as they come.I feel different tho,in a good way,not sure if Campral or so many days alcohol free,or maybe combo of both.Im keeping busy as my body just wants to keep moving,my mind is more relaxed but still dealing with anxiety but a lesser degree.Im ready to start phase 2 now, staying sober with counseling or some other type of outside help,I need to learn how to live again, scratch the again part,I NEED TO LEARN HOW TO LIVE.Im not posting as much cuz that was always associated with sitting at the PC.Just figured ya wondered what was happening in my world.

I did wonder what was happening in your world - and I'm glad you're doing good! And I think you're spot on - putting the drink down is, in the long term, easier to do than learning how to live without drink. But you've started that process now!

I heard that it works too.... I personally have found that by keeping a prescription of anta-abuse around and taking one if I feel a really strong compulsion is also handy.

I don't experience cravings on a daily basis any more, haven't for some time, but I do find that I can get really strong compulsions from time to time. I talked with my doc about it and the pharmacist and both agreed that keeping a prescription of it filled is a good safety technique. It is far easier to take it than to deal with the remorse of a slip.

I keep it in the console of my truck b/c I go everywhere in it and thus, I am confronted with the "option" of taking the anta-abuse rather than drinking when I am really tempted... after all, it is right there in the console... one quick pill and the option of drinking ceases...

Peace, Levi

Im ready to start phase 2 now, staying sober with counseling or some other type of outside help,I need to learn how to live again, scratch the again part,I NEED TO LEARN HOW TO LIVE.
Phase 2 Homer is the key, stopping is the easy part, staying sober is the hard one. Outside help for me was really key, I spent 40 years living as a drunk, I had no idea how to live sober, I had no real idea how to be a husband or a father, little lone a friend. A simple thing like saying I was sorry and meaning it was foriegn to me, going places where to me drinking was the normal thing was hard, I really did not know what to do, I drank all the time so everything I did involved drinking even when no one else was drinking.

Through AA I have learned how to live sober, happy, joyous and free.
