Thanks, everyone.
I've been away from this site for a while, but like to check in time to time.
Some 'normal' people have congratulated me on my time sober, but it falls kind of empty as they don't really 'know' what it takes to become, and get sober.
I wish I could put into words what my sobriety really means to me. I was just driving about today and smiling because I was driving around. Sounds nuts don't it.
I hope I don't sound like I'm going on about myself, but I don't want to start a new thread so here goes...
Last Saturday I was diagnosed with walking pneumonia. It's the first time I've really been sick since I got sober. All I know is, when I felt the thing comming on I thought to myself: "I know what to do, go to the store and get a bottle of JD, that normally cures it."
I went to the doctor instead (I hate doctors). I now have an arsenal of drugs (legal and non-addictive) and am starting to feel better.
Funny thing was, even during my worst day and not being able to breath well, I realized I felt far better than when I was drinking. So, I guess detox is worse than pneumonia.
Anyways, I still go to meetings every day, and do not pick up. One day at a time.
If anyone reading this that is on the fence in early recovery. Do not give up.
It gets better and better.

Congratulations Grizzled!
I just celebrated 6mos yesterday and had a great energetic feeling all day. When I told a couple of "normie" friends they just didn't seem to be excited. Like everything else, they just cannot understand what it takes for us to get to 6 months. I guess that is okay. I wouldn't want them to have to know how hard it is if they don't have to.
I will see my f2f AA home group tomorrow and get some feedback from those that understand. I am looking forward to seeing them.
Again, congratulations Grizzled. You are a rock star! HopeOct31

The nice thing to me about recovery is seeing other people reach anniversaries. It kind of validates what I am doing in a way, and I get emmence satisfaction out of it (Congrats by the way.)
The people I clap for the most are the ones that make 1, 30, 60, and 90 days. They are my heroes these days, least I forget where I came from.
