4 Days Sober in Siberia
I have drunk about a half a bottle of vodka a day for nearly six years. I moved to Siberia to take a job teaching and decided that that part of my life just didn't fit anymore.
I was a closet alchoholic, hiding bottles all over the place, working really hard to make it look like I wasn't drunk
When I first got here, I was was horribly depressed because this is a very bleak and trying part of the world to live in. I missed my home and my family horribly and I naturally turned to the abundance of cheap vodka to help me cope with my pain. Then, one day, while getting drunk in my room I looked in the mirror and made a decision to stop. It really hasn't been all that difficult yet, but I am afraid that it will get worse. What to expect? Will it really get worse? What is the best way to handle it when it does get bad? I don't want to be that person I saw in the mirror anymore. I want to leave her here in Siberia when I go home. Any information would be great. Thanks!!!

Welcome NoraLou,
You may get more replies if you start a new thread. Sometimes the threads that are "stickies" at the top of the forum don't get read as much as a new thread would.
We're glad you're here.

NoraLou.....Welcome!
Well done on your sober time!
You are most likely finished
with the physical de tox...
That usually takes 3/4 days.
Keep in focus...Glad you are here.
