Tomorrow is thier 15th birthday so they have 6 freinds over and I am alone against them all!!!!!
Okay in reality this is thier first birthday with a sober father!! They were not afraid to ride with me to get some of their friends, they like me talking with their friends! I love it!!! All the giggling and loud laughter...... I must still be insane to like this!

How great to be able to be present and start enjoying the good, albeit insane, things in life, like giggling teenagers! You rock, Dad!
Now I am off to pick up my two kids. The insanity starts around here everyday at 3:30! Gotta love it. It's real life and we're living it!

I grew up with an active alcoholic and ... a crazy person. I was afraid to go in the car with my mom by the time I was ten and after a few friends had ...um... "inappropriate touching experiences" with my father when I was around 7 or 8, I was afraid to have anyone over. So, it's a gift I never got to have.
I know from experience that that's all I wanted from my folks when I was a kid: no fancy expensive gifts, just normalcy. Maybe that's why you love it so much? If it weren't for so many years of therapy I'd probably be jealous, but instead I'm just happy for you and your family.

Kurt, I was also lucky, my dad was an alcoholic but I never saw him drink a drop, he quit when I was 2 days old.
I am very glad to hear that your therapy has helped you get beyond your upbringing.

Right with you Taz. I'm blessed to have a house (well, apartment) full of giggly girls at times.
The other night, I was falling asleep (or trying to). Various thumps, bumps and giggles were coming from the living room. I thanked God for that "noise", and fell asleep with a smile on my face.
