I was told by someone with more years sober than I have been on earth (and I am no Spring Chicken) that the problem with "US" (Alcoholics) is that we tend to give things to God...then turn around and take them back!!!! Including our will and our lives!!! That is when we slip....I kind of picture the things I turn over to God like a Hot Potato...as soon as I realize I have taken it back, I toss it right back at Him and say..oppps, sorry, I forgot, this is your to deal with now!!!! Then I wait for guidance......please don't stop trying...one day, you will leave it in his hands, and then you will begin to heal. Never quit quitting!!!!

I'm sorry to hear that. That really sucks! Where I live there is more social security. I know that in America all that stuff really costs a sh**load of money. When we go to detox (or for that matter a dentist or a doctor) it costs us almost nothing. Sure you have to pay it first,... but a few weeks later social security pays back most of the costs. So when you calculate the whole thing,... a normal doctor vistit maybe costs €5 or so.

Anyway,... I hope that you will find a way to stay sober. Keep going to AA and keep checking this place out. Support is a very important factor in recovery.

Big hug,

Philip

This is going to sound strange but I always feel like an outcast because I am the only alcoholic that I really know of.
Go to an AA meeting, you will find out you are not alone and you may be surpised to see some of your sober friends there!

Anewday2day Keep going to the meetings, keep working it, there is a guy I know who was in and out of the rooms for 13 years before he finally started to actually work the program instead of just going to meetings. He has been sober for over 3 years now.
