Songs that have helped me.

1. Carrie Underwood - wasted, 2. Josh Rouse - Givin it up, 3. Animals - Good Times, 4. Montgomery Gentry - Some people change! I hope you enjoy these songs I listen to them when I need some inspiration. Givin it up is a song about a guy who used to be an alcoholic. You can also look up the lyrics online and sing along to help really understand them. Good Luck and let me know how you like them.

Jason Mraz is awsome no matter what song it is, but "wordplay" is also good.

Wink

I'm a little older than you guys. I like Starship's "Nothin's gonna stop us now."

Silverchair is a band that has really helped me over the years. The singer has gone through alcoholism, depression, anarexia and arthritis that almost crippled him, and for some reason the songs just inspire me. Ana's Song and Emotion Sickness are two songs you may want to check out

America - Horse with no name

On the first part of the journey
I was looking at all the life
There were plants and birds and rocks and things
There was sand and hills and rings
The first thing I met was a fly with a buzz
And the sky with no clouds
The heat was hot and the ground was dry
But the air was full of sound

I've been through the desert on a horse with no name
It felt good to be out of the rain
In the desert you can remember your name
'Cause there ain't no one for to give you no pain
La, la ...

After two days in the desert sun
My skin began to turn red
After three days in the desert fun
I was looking at a river bed
And the story it told of a river that flowed
Made me sad to think it was dead

You see I've been through the desert on a horse with no name
It felt good to be out of the rain
In the desert you can remember your name
'Cause there ain't no one for to give you no pain
La, la ...

After nine days I let the horse run free
'Cause the desert had turned to sea
There were plants and birds and rocks and things
there was sand and hills and rings
The ocean is a desert with it's life underground
And a perfect disguise above
Under the cities lies a heart made of ground
But the humans will give no love

You see I've been through the desert on a horse with no name
It felt good to be out of the rain
In the desert you can remember your name
'Cause there ain't no one for to give you no pain
La, la ...

U2 - Trip Through Your Wires

In the distance
She saw me coming 'round
I was calling out
I was calling out

Still shaking
Still in pain
You put me back together again
I was cold and you clothed me honey
I was down and you lifted me honey

Angel
Angel or devil
I was thirsty
And you wet my lips

You, I'm waiting for you
You, you set my desire
I trip through your wires

I was broken, bent out of shape
I was naked in the clothes you made
Lips were dry, throat like rust
You gave me shelter from the heat and the dust
No more water in the well
No more water, water

Angel
Angel or devil
I was thirsty
And you wet my lips

You, I'm waiting for you
You, You set my desire
I trip through your wires

(All I need...All I need)

Thunder, thunder on the mountain
There's a rain cloud in the desert sky
In the distance she saw me coming 'round
I was calling out
I was calling out

Someone informed me (I think it was HERE!) that many of Social Distortion's songs are about getting sober. Their song "Ball and Chain" is definitely about addiction.

Gwen you named some of my favorite.... Wasted covers both sides of alcoholism I feel. I cried the first time I really listened to that song, and not for the drinker, but for his spouse.
