Smile Hi all New here

Hi all. I am relatively new to the forum and glad to be here. I haven't drank in going on the 3rd day now. I feel alot better and know it will just keep getting better and better. I have quit before in the past so I know it will get better and easier. I also know that it is VERY easy to fall off the wagon. I'm glad i found this forum and look forward to making some long and lasting friendships here.

John

Hi John:

Welcome to SR ... You never have to drink again if you don't want to -- one day at a time! Keep posting and tell us how it's going.

Be good to you,
Di

I certainly do NOT want to. Drinking has been the main cause of me living a up and down life and being a underachiever. It's time for that to stop.

Glad to see you here in our Alcoholism Forum

Do you have a plan for staying sober?

Hey Leroysdad.

Welcome to SR. You're among friends here. You have made a very good choice by coming here and quitting the booze.

Welcome John! Glad to see you. I got sober via AA. Had tried lots of other stuff but finally had to surrender. I'm glad I did. My life has turned around soooo much. Just over a year now...

My plan is quite simple. Just say no! Really, I have the support of my family and friends here. That's all i have in place at the time being. Oh yea, and staying very busy.

Hi John, good to see you posting SR, and happy that you're sober. Ever considered AA? This forum is wonderful and you'll find lots of support, but it's also great to have a solid program of recovery. Keep posting and reading, I'm sure you'll find it very helpful here.

I have found that exercising and drinking water when that butterfly in the pit of your stomach hits is very very helpful. It seems to make the butterfly go away. Not to mention will eventually help get rid of that old spare tire.

Right now I'm having too much work to go out and exercise, but I will as soon as I can.

That seems to be a good idea, works for me too. God job on fighting the urge so far.

John congrats on three days, I tried your way many times for the last 10 years I drank, well actually only 7 because the last 3 there was no way I could go 3 days without a drink/drunk. I hope going it alone works for you.

For me I am glad it didn't work for me, thanks to AA not only am I sober, I am a better and happier person. That and if my butt catchs on fire for a drink and SR is not readily available I can call any number of AA friends who not only I can talk to, but if need be we can hook up 24X7.

That and I have met some of the best people I have ever known in my life. I have both friends and business contacts I never had when I was drinking. I have through AA a network of people who really do care about me as much as I care about them and they are all just a phone call away.
