Giving up

I had almost 5 month of sobriety. I gave it up. The stress and pain of my life is too much to endure.

I don't know if I can get back to where I was. It would seem to take strength that I don't have.

I need help and I don't know where to go.

Carol

Well, drinking is not going to fix anything.

Have you tried AA ? You can tap into a power greater than yourself. That strength that you don't have.

I was under the assumption that if I quit drinking, there would be no more stress or pain. Life still goes on, I just deal with it differently (I.E. I dfon't drink)f

Carol please tell us more...what were you doing in that 5 months of sobriety. What was going on when you quit and what was going on when you picked up again. When your strength is all gone..and you're finally feeling beaten down so hard you can't get up again...the only thing you can do is reach out for a hand up. We're here...so is AA.

Carol, I've felt like that at times, but I know that when I have slipped it has done nothing but make things worse. Drinking makes the pain numb for a brief period, but you sober up and it is still there.

hello carol, and welcome. i'm sorry that you are struggling with your recovery. i have a daughter (22) who is about 120 days clean and sober from alcohol and cocaine. she did inpatient rehab first, and know lives in a nice sober living house. she goes to aa everyday and has a sponsor. she gets some private counseling also. i hope you can also find good resources in your community. recovery is possible. blessings, k
