Yay! Our 1st weekend went well!

Screen name "I'mready99" and I went the entire weekend without a drop of booze. That's the first Saturday and Sunday in a long time that I have willingly stayed away from the beer.
I know that a lot of my will power is due to talking to him and to you all. When I thought about how nice it'd be to have a cold one in my right hand, I just got on the computer and read some of your posts. He and I PMd each other often to check in with one another. I dug into old threads and found some very helpful and inspirational messages.
What I'm trying to say is THANK YOU for the help so far. I'm happy with myself and will keep reading and posting to keep my morale up.

Thanks again. So much.

Tim

Hi Tim,

Congrats to you guys for getting through the we. It is always hardest for me to get thorough that first one, it gets better after that.

I'm on day 7, myself, so I'm right in there with ya! Keep up the good work!

Good afternoon Tim and everybody...

Yes, we were a team supporting each other, along with the help and support of many here. Like I said, I'm so happy to have found this site...

You were really the main reason that I didn't stop Friday evening on the way home from work. I didn't want to let you down, and in turn, letting myself down...

Thanks again to you and all the fine folks here at SR...

Have a GREAT rest of the day everybody...

One day at a time.

Steve

you two guys are doing exactly what Bob and Bill did when first getting sober, before any steps or AA meetings were ever invented.

You are working with another alcoholic (each other), talking, feeling and staying sober.

You two are so amazing!

There have been many friendships forged here at SR and it looks like you two have created an important bond.

Thanks so much FoB...

Its funny in life how somethings just seem to come togeather. Tim and I just happened to decide to quit drinking at the very same time. We both have different reasons, but its one common goal, to give up alcohol. We both found this site online. Bob and Bill never had this modern marvel we call the internet. Back in their day, one guy from the mid west and the other from Maryland could have never gotten togeather in almost the blink of an eye. Discussed their feelings with each other, and in a short time, become cyber friends. In the Army two soldiers pair off and become "Battle buddies". I guess Tim would be my "Battle buddy". Because getting sober is fighting a war...

Alcoholism is the enemy. Just as crafty and cunning as any terrorist we are fighting today. And just as deadly also. Alcoholism is a fatal desease...

Again thanks Tim. We may well have saved each other's life...

One day at a time.

Steve
