4 months yesterday -- And I didn't even realize it till today
What a strange feeling.... I just looked at a calendar and realized that my 4 month date came and went yesterday and I didn't even realize it or think about it. It was a great day at work today. I started the SouthBeach Diet the same day I stopped drinking (June 12 2006) and I also have been exercising quite a bit. So far, I've lost 22 pounds and 34.5 inches (9.5 off the abdomen (the old beer belly) and 14 inches off the hips). I had to go shopping for new clothes last weekend because my old pants were literally falling off of me. Today at work, while wearing my new, smaller, stylish clothes, several people noticed throughout the day and people have also been stopping me all week at work to ask what on earth I'm doing to lose all this weight. It felt great!!!! Losing this weight has been a powerful motivator to stay away from the alcohol.
Thanks for having this forum. I lurk here often and it really helps to hear from other people who understand alcoholism and share the same feelings and experiences.

congrats on the 4 months. I'm right behind you ( on the 15th). Unfortunately I've replace my alcohol with a bunch of crappy food and diet soda so my weight loss isn't so pronounced. It really is a great motivator since it helps you feel so good inside and WANT to do more to help yourself feel good. Keep it up.

I woke up to another big milestone on the scale today!!! My weight is now down 24.5 pounds and I crossed the threshhold for BMI (Body Mass Index) from the "Obesity" level down to just simply "Overweight". It will be nice to eventually get all the way down to the "Healthy" range one of these days.
Thanks for all the congratulations!
Thanks for all the congratulations!
I know what you mean DKS, about losing track of the date. Once I passed the 100 day mark I stopped counting and switched to months, (just like with the chips!). Halloween will be my four month date! Woo-hooo!
