You could start by writing down all the pros and cons - what are all the negative things drinking has done to you, compared to the positive things?

Then write a list of how you think life might be better if you stopped drinking, compared to the things that might not be so good. Write honestly, just for yourself - then really examine that list. Weigh it up.

But if you're gonna stop, you'll need to fill all that drinking time with something else - so plan stuff to do. It's a long road, but it gets shorter as soon as you get started.

Good Luck

Did your friend ever see you completely sober before?
Perhaps they don't know the sober you.

Could you arrange to go back to work part time?
Or limited duty?

i know nothing about the working laws in the UK
so I am just throwing out suggestions that may
not fit.

Take care of yourself...it all works out.

I don't know SM. It takes us a long time to do the damage in the first place, thankfully it doesn't take THAT long to undo it!

Give time time. Just for today, don't pick up. Relax.
